You know, it will forever bother me that Jamie is regarded as one of the “less intelligent” of The Doctor’s companions, even in canon because I feel like people are missing one of the primary points of his character, which is adaptability. It takes a unique sort of intelligence to be able to adapt…
James Robert “Jamie” McCrimmon, the fair-faced and soft-handed piper of Clan McLaren from 1746. For all his rashness, no Time Lord could want for a braver and more loyal companion.
Might be the kilt, Jamie.
My series of paintings done for the Doctor Who comics series! (Well, the first three, at least… wink wink.) They are the covers of the #1 issues for each respective Doctor - Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth. The Piper by thescarletpaperback (aka me)
Rose-of-pollux finished a wonderful fanfic recently, Metamorphosis, where Jamie McCrimmon turns into a Time Lord called “The Piper”. It made me ponder on what a Time Lord Jamie would look like in another universe where he was always a Time Lord, and Patrick Troughton’s character is his human companion. In my imagination, the Piper looks something like this. Unlike rose-of-pollux’s fanfic, he still has his Scottish accent, retorting that “Lots of planets have a Scotland. Or, you know, a Scottish equivalent.”
Really, it happens more than you would think.
And what better day to show this than Frazer Hines’s birthday? So, here you go. The Piper. Still clingy. Still loyal. Lots more Time Lord.
